A customer of mine could not use VMware vSphere Update Manager after some changes in the Active Directory.
They could not enable the vSphere Update Manager plug-in. The icon of VUM disappeared.
I solved this by doing the steps below:
- Navigate to the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager
- Open with notepad the file vci-integrity.xml and search for the parameter <vpxdLocation>, and make sure the address listed here is the IP-address of the vCenter Server.
- Save the vci-integrity.xml file
- Now restart the “VMware vSphere Update Manager Service” service
For some reason an old IP-address was listed although the customer stated the IP-address was not changed.
