Unable to add roles or features to a Windows Server 2008 server

This post is not really related to server virtualization but an issue took me some time to resolve so this posting might help someone.

While trying to make a backup using DPM I ran into an error. Replica is inconsistent. A bit of searching revealed I needed to install the Windows Server Backup feature on the source physical server. One problem though: I was not able to install any role or feature on the server!.  This Knowledge base article of Microsoft explains what to do.

The server missed two files for unknow reasons. However on the internet I could not find these files.

I solved it by going to another Windows Server 2008 server, went to \windows\servicing\packages and copied the two files below to the server with the problems. Problem solved!

The files below where listed in the CheckSUR file which was created by running the Microsoft Update Readiness Tool
