Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 with free Live Migration and Failover Clustering

In the next release of Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 , the free hypervisor of Microsoft, will also have Live Migration and Failover Clustering for free.

That means virtual machines can be moved from one host to another withot downtime. Also, if a host fails, the virtual machines that ran on that host  will be taken over by one of the other Hyper-V nodes in the cluster.

The expected release of Hyper-V server R2 is scheduled for Q1 2010.
